Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper maintenance and cleaning are essential to keep your Silverson Batch Mixer performing at its best and prolong its lifespan. Follow these key steps to ensure safe and effective care:
Regular Maintenance
- Inspect the Bearing Bush: Check for signs of wear regularly, especially when mixing abrasive materials. Replace the bush immediately if there is any movement of the shaft to prevent damage.
- Check the Workhead: Ensure the workhead is securely fitted and free from obstructions before use.
- Replace Worn Parts: Promptly replace any worn components to maintain optimal mixer performance.
Cleaning Guidelines
- Quick Rinse: After use, run the mixer briefly in water or a product-compatible solvent to clean the wetted parts. Ensure the workhead is fully submerged during this process.
- Power Off for Deep Cleaning: Once the quick rinse is complete, disconnect the mixer from the electrical supply before performing any dismantling or thorough cleaning.
- Thorough Cleaning: Remove any solids or other materials from the clearances between the rotor and stator, and thoroughly flush the area around the shaft and bushing
- Avoid Water on the Motor: Never hose, spray, or immerse the motor in water to prevent electrical damage.
- Use Non-Abrasive Cleaning Methods: Avoid abrasive tools or harsh chemicals. If using sanitising agents, refer to the manual for compatibility.
Best Practices for Longevity
- Clean the mixer after every use to prevent residue buildup.
- Refer to the installation, operation, and maintenance manual for detailed instructions and troubleshooting advice.
- For additional support or replacement parts, contact your local Silverson representative.
By following these steps, you’ll ensure your mixer stays in top condition and performs reliably for years to come.
