Maintenance and Cleaning

Silverson In-Line mixers are designed for easy maintenance and Cleaning-In-Place (CIP). Here’s how to keep your mixer in top working condition:

Cleaning-In-Place (CIP)

Silverson In-Line mixers are CIP-compatible. If your process includes a separate CIP system, we recommend running the mixer during the CIP cycle. The added turbulence helps eliminate dead spots within the mixer body, ensuring a more thorough clean.

If the mixer is pumping CIP fluid faster than it’s being supplied, you can:

  • Reduce the mixer’s speed, or
  • Install a back pressure valve on the outlet to regulate flow

Maintenance and Inspection

Silverson mixers are easily dismantled for inspection and routine maintenance. Always follow these steps:

  • Isolate the mixer electrically before dismantling
  • Have maintenance carried out by a qualified engineer
  • Clean all parts and mating surfaces thoroughly before reassembly
  • After reassembly, turn the shaft by hand to ensure the rotor and stator rotate freely and without interference

If you need assistance, refer to the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Manual or contact your local Silverson representative.
